How far in advance should I book my photography session?

As soon as possible! I only schedule 1-2 sessions per week and 1 weekend session per month, so my schedule fills up quickly.

How do I book a photo session?

Your schedule looks full for my preferred date/time is there a waitlist?

Absolutely! Please contact me to be added to the waitlist for your desired date and/or time.

What happens if someone gets sick or it is raining on my scheduled day?

I will not charge a penalty for illnesses as long as your rescheduled session takes place within 4 weeks of the originally scheduled session.

I will suggest a reschedule if the weather is not conducive to a good session (below freezing or excessive heat) or if it is raining heavily, if you wish to continue your session in drizzle, I am happy to do so.

How many people can I bring?

As long as I know ahead of time, I am happy to photograph as many friends and family as you would like to have join us! Please keep in mind that more participants generally means a longer session is required.

Do you do in-home photo sessions?

I do not do in-home photo sessions.

Where will we meet?

I have a number of beautiful outdoor locations in Northern Virginia for family, individual, and group photo sessions. When we have our initial consultation I will discuss these options with you and determine what works best for your aesthetic and your family.

I have the perfect photo location in mind! Can we do the photo shoot there?

Maybe. There are many lovely locations in the local area that are not open for professional photography. Some locations may increase your photo session cost due to permitting requirements. Other locations may not have availability for photography on your selected date. I am happy to work though any of these issues with you during your consultation!

Do you photograph events?

I LOVE taking sports photography, so if your event is sports related, absolutely! If you are looking for an outstanding wedding, birthday party, or baby shower photographer in the Northern Virginia area, I am not your person, however, I do have some wonderful recommendations, so please feel free to reach out!

Preparing for your family photo session

What should I wear to my photo session?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in and that match your personality and the desired feel of the photos. You do not need to match each other!

Feel free to dress as casually or as formally as you like. We can adjust the photo session to match your apparel.

I recommend selecting clothing that does not wrinkle easily.

Black is a VERY flattering color and will hide all manor of flaws including weight, and sweat!

I always recommend closed toed shoes whenever possible! Most of my photo locations involve some walking through grass and trees and closed toed shoes will help to protect your feet.

When in doubt select neutral colors, colors that coordinate with your home decor, or colors that match your eyes!

What should I bring with me?

Bug spray! My sessions are outdoors in some beautiful Northern Virginia locations that people and bugs are equally excited about. Please bring bug spray and check for ticks after a session, just in case!

Your child’s favorite lovey, or toy! This is a great time to capture your sweet kiddo’s love of soccer or their favorite cuddly toy. If you do not what this item in every shot, however, please keep it out of site until it is time!

What can I do to make sure the session goes well?

Relax! and have fun! The best photos happen when the family is at ease, laughing, and enjoying the moment. The sillier you are willing to be the more your children will respond with genuine smiles and giggles!

Let me know ahead of time some things about your child so that I can help them to relax and relate to them throughout our session. I have three children of my own and I know how hard it is for some kids to feel comfortable in front of a camera so the more I know ahead of time to smoother the session will go

Please let me know ahead of time about any physical disabilities or behavioral characteristics that I should be aware of when photographing your family.

Remember that our goal is to capture who you are as a person, or family!

We hired you for a team photo session. What will it look like?

The session generally takes 2-5 minutes per participant and an additional 5-10 for team photos. Please plan accordingly. If you have scheduled me to stay for the game I will take action shots throughout the game, ensuring that I have images of each participant.

What should I wear to my photo session?

If we are taking sports portraits, where your full uniform and bring your equipment so that we can incorporate it into the images

What if my uniform is stained?

Even better! Our goal is to capture your intensity, power, and athleticism!

We hired you for a team photo session. What will it look like?

The session generally takes 2-5 minutes per participant and an additional 5-7 for team photos. Please plan accordingly. If you have scheduled me to stay for the game I will take action shots throughout the game, ensuring that I have images of each participant.

After your photo session

How long will it be until I can see my photos?

Typically around two weeks. If you need them sooner, please let me know prior to your photo session.

What edits can I expect to be made?

I will edit out bruises, blemishes, and scratches. I will not dramatically alter anyone’s appearance.

How will I view my photos after they are ready?

I will email you with a link to your photo gallery. Your gallery will remain open for purchases for two weeks following delivery.

When is my final payment due?

When you receive the gallery link, you will also receive the final invoice for the photo session. IF payment is not received within 14 days a late fee of 10% will be added. After you have made your final payment I will turn on the download functionality for the gallery.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes.
